The Festival of 2016

The 27th edition of the Stockholm International Film Festival contained 200 films from 70 countries. The new film section Discovery only presents new directors, which led to a record number of debutants. The Stockholm Visionary Award is given to the French director François Ozon and in Spotlight: Identity, the films are about the journey to a new identity. This year's festival opens with Ken Loach's acclaimed and award-winning film »I, Daniel Blake«. This year's centerpiece is »Birth of a Nation« by Nate Parker. The festival is rounded off with Kenneth Lonergan's »Manchester by the Sea«.

THE MASTER IS IN TOWN
Francis Ford Coppola is in town during the 2016 festival to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. A long-awaited visit from one of the greatest directors of our time who, among other things, shares his thoughts on Donald Trump's inauguration as American president (the morning after the presidential election) during a lecture at Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts.
