In a Japan in the near future, in a society that is more important than its people, nothing is private - not even the destiny of a man's life. One day, Hide (Hayashi Kenjiro) receives a letter from the National Medical Centre announcing that he will die of a heart attack in 29 days. Hide has two alternatives: accept his death or go to ''Gong''. In Gong awaits eternal life but Hide is not convinced ofthe advantages. His girlfriend advises him not to go, but then leaves him without awaiting his decision. Hide also discovers that he suddenly isn't welcome at work anymore. His death angst and despair grows stronger by the minute. In a last effort to experience some freedom - or at least take his mind off his imminent death - he buys a sports car with the last of his money. But in a society where everything and everyone is under constant watch, to express even the smallest protest becomes very hard indeed. Director Sae Tae-Su interprets the frustration which comes from being completely powerless and gives the finger to the information Big Brother-society which doesn't care about the happiness of its people, told in dystopic aesthetics similar to Godard's Alphaville.
