''Deterrence'' signifies discouraging war by maintaining a vast military power and weaponry- it's a doctrine widely known as that of mutually assured destruction (MAD). Such an escalating of the power of the weaponry ended up with the nuclear arms race. The knowledge that a strike will be retaliated and the remembrance of Hiroshima makes you think twice. During his re-election campaign, the American President Walt Emerson (Kevin Pollak) and his entourage get surprised by a snowstorm and are forced to take shelter in a local diner. The President doesn't waste time and continues his campaign in the diner until he learns via the TV that Saddam Hussein's son, Udei, has invaded Kuwait and slaughtered hundreds of American soldiers. Using the TV-team that were documenting the campaign, the President goes on live and announces that he will launch a nuclear attack on Baghdad immediately if the country does not withdraw. Iraq answers by pointing 27 nuclear missiles at NATO targets all over the world. The diner becomes the centre of a political meltdown. The President stands without his staff of military advisors and has to answer to the civilians in the diner for his actions.
