Rustem is a young man that lives at his sister’s in Kazakstan. She looks at him but he shows no signs of gratitude. Feeble, unmotivated and bored, he lets the days go by. His sister gives him a diary in an effort to give him a more structured life. We watch the story unfold through the paintings that Rustem paints in it.One day Rustem meets Miko and they fall in love. At first he perceives her as crazy but he soon understands that they are alike. They use the same silent language. Their relationship is founded on a mutual insecurity and fragility, but together they discover the world they live in and its everyday life. The film is a description of ordinary lives in an ordinary world. The dramatic turns are scarce and the lull of everyday life is a natural ground for the film. To increase the degree of reality and the mundande, Ardak Amirkulov made the film in close co-operation with his students at Almaty University. The students play all the leading roles as well as writing the script. Aggressive Eastern Europe heavy metal is a constant musical feature.Ardak Ardumov’s earlier films have been historical dramas, this is the first film that takes place in the present.
