David, a 25-year-old with few prospects for the future, works in a grungy inner city gym in Oslo. When he is not rescuing hiss boss's dimwitted son from screwing up drug deals, he worries about his dying father. The rest of the family is not exactly the Brady Bunch either - his brother has Down's Syndrome and a will stronger than most, and his mother carries the entire faInily's troubles on her shoulders.
When the gym gets raided by the police the shit hits the fan and David is faced with two options: either he squeals so he can be with
his father until the end or he will be sent to prison letting the old man perish alone. But his friends won't see to kindly to being ratted out.
Writing, directing and starring in one's own first feature is no doubt a daunting task, but Aksel Hennie - one of Norway's leading young actors - succeeds remarkably well in this highly acclaimed and gritty gangster story.
