Let's get cold. Let's get dirty. Let's visitthe backstreets of Toronto and step into a modern version of Charles Dickens's classic masterpiece - Oliver Twist. Long gone are the pickpockets of the London alleys. Instead the story focuses on a group of young men selling their bodies.
The impressive opening scenes setthe standard for the rest of this movie - we follow the leader Dodge (played by Nick Stahl) down the harsh Toronto streets, where the sun shines while the melancholic soundtracl( says, '' ... the rain keeps on falling around me''. One gloomy day Dodge discovers Oliver (played by Joshua Close), a kid who just ran away
from his foster home. Oliver takes great comfort in Dodge, without suspecting his hidden agenda - to fnake Oliver part of the gang. With the themes of misery and misfortune.. this tale is even darker than its original. In Twist, drugs, prostitution and violence creates a society where no one is safe from social tragedy. Directed by actor-turned screenwriter/director Jacob Tierney, Twist delivers a repulsive but capturing story helped by a wonderful cast.
