Twin falls Idaho

Twin falls Idaho

av Michael Polish

Penny, a prostitute who lives in New York, one morning gets the assignment to go to a run-down hotel and visit Francis Falls. She gets the shock of her life when it turns out that Francis is conjoined with his brother Blake. Two twins forever joined in one body with two arms, two heads, three legs, and two hearts. The Falls brothers have come to New York to celebrate their birthday and to sort out some old affairs. They meet Penny just as Francis gets the flu, something that affects both brothers very drastically. When Penny overcomes the initial shock, she becomes friends with the brothers, a friendship that can be very difficult if she would pick a favorite of the two. The hard part of making a movie with this type of subject is to make it believable, but the Polish brothers succeed. When you see them in the movie, they somehow seem completely natural as conjoined twins. They surprised many a viewer when it turned out that they are not conjoined in real life. But it takes more than good special effects and masks to make a movie believable, the story also has to deliver. The brothers have succeeded with that too. They bring up all kind of different complications of an eternal neighbour, to never be alone, to never be able to go outside without causing a commotion. Well, actually there is one night a year they can move around like anyone else: Halloween. With that observation you get an indication of one of the cornerstones of the brothers' survival, the dark humour that is born in extreme cases of unavoidable fates.
