No set scenario, no set actors, no set story, and no set end. Nothing is set. Out of order came chaos.
This film has been called a Korean version of Kids, and the two films are alike in some respects. But Jang Sunwoo has taken it one step further. Like in Kids, real teens play themselves, but here they act out their own short stories. This puts a lot of realism in the stories and they are liberated from dramatic writing effects. Short stories from the teens' lives are displayed in a very raw and uncensored way. Sometimes the stories are reenacted, sometimes improvised, and sometimes they are happen i ng right then and there in front of the camera. The stories are mixed with scenes from the I ives of homeless people, which are entirely documentary. Does it sound complicated? I am just getting warmed up.
The film also has a very disrespectful relationship to itself. Sometimes you see other cameramen working from a different angle and the actors sometimes refer to the fact that they are in a movie. Reality, not realism, is vital and normal movie structure is completely ignored. Stories are thrown around and there are both animated and computer animated scenes
added. There is also some very modern Korean music, for instance the band ''PiPi Longstocking''.
Timeless Bottomless Bad Movie chocks, appalls, and touches you. The main characters are teens that want to be bad, and they take you on a journey through their world. It is a long shaky journey through hope, tears, sex, frustration, hunger, love and alcohol. Everything is
up in the air and without any set order, much like life itself.
