In this romantic and black comedy, the artist Mona desperately tries to change her life and relationship. Is death a way to improve life?
The movie describes a few vital days in Mona's life when she screams for change. And change is what she gets, perhaps a little more than she had hoped for. Her day starts when she panics and cuts off her long hair, the only way to get rid of her alarm clock that got tangled up in her
hair. That is the start of a series of strange events. She experiences a situation very similar to a painting she painted the day before. A silent, mysterious stranger saves her life without saying a word, and then she becomes completely enchanted by him. How is she going to take care of her pregnant cousin, that ''fixes'' her TV by ripping it into pieces? How is she going to fix her I ife when her dead boyfriend is on her back, nagging her for a proper funeral?
There's No Fish Food in Heaven is a movie that ignores most conventional forms and is allowed to move unleashed. Eleanor E Gaver has a colorful imagery and uses all tricks and methods available for a director, along with a large portion of dark humor in her own script. Many surprises awaits the spectator, both from the story and the format. You are left with a lot of food for thoughts about relationships, life, death, art, and pets.
