Holly Martin arrives in a cold post-war Vienna to look for his friend, Harry Lime, who has offered him a job. Martin gets no further than to the hotel room before he receives a message that his friend has died in an accident. He goes to the funeral the same day. He gets a lift back by a major in the secret service who begins to ask him questions about the deceased. The major claims that Lime was a thief and a murderer, whereupon Martin begins his own investigation in order to clear his friend's name. He comes across a series of coincidences and starts to wonder if the accident really was an accident after all. The Third Man is classic film noir, based on Graham Greene's script. As Harry Lime we see Orson Welles who makes a portrayal of evil, ruthless and untouchable corruption. The film offers one breathtaking moment after the other. Most people who have seen the film leave the salon humming Anton Kara's The Harry Lime Theme.
