The historical heritage of Singapore seen through the eyes of
77-year old Chia, as he ventures on a boat journey along the
Singapore River, during which he recalls his fi rst encounter
with the city in the 40’s. The river stills fl ows but the surrounding
landscape has drastically changed.
Royston Tan, known for his outspoken Singapore criticism,
takes on a different approach as he breaches the generation
gaps and strikes against missing sense of history. With the
accompaniment of old folk tunes, Tan’s fi lm is both illuminating
and poetic.
