Chris was born on a parking lot in Southern California. The ever-present traffic prevented his parents from reaching the hospital in time. As a seventeen-year old boy, Chris' reaction to a fractured home and the fast lane lifestyle around him, is to steal antique cars, which he sees as precious relics from an innocent era. Chris tries to stay out of trouble in a world of decay, money and corruption.
Comment:
Everett Lewis, a professor of film production at L.A. art school, met many talented students who led very troubled lives. Many of them were from wealthy families, and used drugs, alcohol and stealing in a desperate attempt to garner love and attention. Everett Lewis wrote ''Parking Lot''.
In order to capture a gritty reality Lewis and Ghazal used a unique approach to casting. They would write and rewrite characters based on real people they would cast along the way. They even went so far as to cast people they saw walking down the street.
The film was shot on black and white film in a style similar to Bresson's Pickpocket and Godard's Breathless.
