The Mighty

The short little fellow Kevin, must be seen as the prototype for what a ''smart'' little kid should look like, and act like in a film - physically he is a wreck with a supportive corset and glasses, intellectually he is an Einstein. ln the same the giant child Max exists as another prototype of the world of cinema -thirteen years old with a shoesize of 47, non-existent self-esteem and slow in the head. Kevin moves into the neighbourhood, door-to-doorfrom Max. The two soon find each other. Together they become an unbeatable unity; a brave warrior whose likeness has not been sees' since the days of King Arthur. A warrior combining the physical strength of Max with Kevin's intelligence. They call themselves ''The Mighty'' and soon embark on the final mission; fighting for justice, destroying all dragons and saving all young ladies in distress.
The film is based on Rodman Phildrick's novel. The Mighty is a comedy - a comedy that brings out laughter, but which is built on deep seriousness. It is a film about friendship, which in a funny and inspiring way tells about these two outsiders and their adventures.
Two children who in the name of justice go out into the world for the purpose of, in the name of justice, fight evil and injustice. All this they do to discover the most precious of gifts - friendship. Because
if you have a friend, well then you can beat the world with astonishment.
Chelsom's cuddly message is that it is friendship itself, that is the key to happiness, strength and success. Which is not a bad message.
Gillian Anderson, Sharon Stone and Meat Loaf appear in this movie, but mostly the guest of honour at this years festival, Gena Rowlands plays a big part.
