The Iceberg

The Iceberg

av Dominique Abel, Fiona Gordon & Bruno Romy

Fiona lives a quiet and ordinary life as a waitress at a diner. One night, she is accidentally locked into the freezer and forced to spend the night there. Upon being let out the morning after, she is shocked to realise that her husband and two children hasn’t even noticed her absence. The shock makes Fiona develop an attraction to ice, and one day she runs away to find a new life, in the form of an iceberg. Belgian-Canadian couple Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon team up with director Bruno Romy to deliver this bleak but still hilariously funny film about the common, human longing for a different and better life, somewhere else, far away. It tells its story using almost solely long shots and very little dialogue, contrasting a depressing view of everyday life with a quirky and ironic sense of humour. A strange but utterly touching look on loneliness, love and lack of communication. FREDRIK AF TRAMPE
