Creole pig, Black pig, Apocalyptic pig.
Haiti's history is that of bloodshed and slavery but it is also a history of pride and rebellion. In 1791, the slaves turned against their masters and the colonial structures started to break down. The rebellion grew stronger as the country was being baptised in the blood of a sacrificial pig. And it is through a pig that, Michelange Quay, takes us to Haiti's turbulent past. With images of slaughtered hogs and humans, seemingly marked with religious fervour, Quay comments upon the turmoil to come when a kidnapped people must create its own identity in a land where they were not born.
