Ruthless businesswoman Julia Styron acts with no conscience, firing employees within a blink of an eye, while non-stop talking on the mobile phone and changing planes on the way to the next deal. In-hired assistant Paula gets a bite of this bad apple as she messes up one of Julia's business meetings. But stuck at the same airport hotel and after consuming countless amounts of umbrella embellished cocktails, the two women get into a manipulative crazed game of vengeance, where in the center stands Julia's slick colleague Nick, who turns out to represent a dark and violent part of Paula's history.

Director Stettner perfectly catches both tension and attraction between these two incited women on their hunt for the scum of the Earth. Veteran Stockard Channing and new-comer Julia Stiles are in complete control of their character interpretations and turn The Business of Strangers into an even more compelling story as they take turns outshining each other on the screen.
