This is the once-in-a-decade face off between the Drum God and the Demon Drummer! Krisada Terrence from last year’s The Adventures of Iron Pussy plays Bay, a man who learns the noble art of drumming from a Buddhist master, the Drum God. One day the Drum God is struck down by evil-guy the Demon Drummer. When training so he can have revenge. Bay suspects that he has delivered a fatal blow to his land lady because she now equals a big pile of ground beef. In a desperate chase through Bangkok Bay seeks shelter with fellow percussionist Don and together they try to avoid the grasp of Police Inspector Black Ears who follow them at every turn to apprehend Bay for the woman’s murder. And in the mean time the Demon Drummer is still at large. This is completely mad Thai cinema, where anything and everything can and will happen. We are treated to bad hair cuts, large scale musical numbers and drum-themed sex scenes in this cartoonish action comedy from debut-director Pornchai Horngrattanaporn. This is visual fire works filled with indescribable lunacy that makes you wonder if someone has tampered with the country’s water supply.MATTIAS VESTIN
