Soyo is a loner, tired of school and eager to experience something new andexciting in his life. His biggest passion in life is inline skating and hesecretly dreams about being a professional in the sport. He practices hisskating everyday but it is only when not until he meets Hanjoo, an independent filmmaker, that he is introduced to a group of youths who share his interest. Soyo is soon picked up in their subcultural community and suddenly there seems to be nothing that could keep him from fulfilling his secret dreams. Jeon Jae Eun has created a very visual and stylized film about a South Korean subculture few probably knew even existed. The outsiders in the gang that Soyo gets involved with are a bunch of street smart kids trying their hardest not to conform into society. You can recognize the theme from many European and American films. However, seeing South Korean street kids on the silver screen is not very common. That fact makes The Aggressives a both entertaining and interesting film.PER NYSTRÖM
