Just a few weeks after Brian Jones’ mates kicked him out of Rolling Stones, a band which he co-founded, he was found dead floating in his swimming pool. This is where Stoned begins only to take us back down memory lane effectively, fast and with great detail. Director Stephen Woolley concentrates on the last weeks of Brian’s life, where he mostly hangs out in his great mansion, drinking with his Swedish girlfriend and becoming friends with the builder who is renovating his house, Frank Thorogood. In contrast with Frank’s more humble lifestyle, Jones’ rock and roll-manners and paranoid tendencies seem even more outrageous. Rather than making a bio pic about the whole band, long time producer Stephen Woolley has found a few chapters in their vast history and concentrated on them. Here, Mick and Keith are mere supporting actors in the tragic, sex and drug crazed life of Brian. HENRIK EMILSON
