Stockholm Film Festival

This cast epitomises American cinema history, spanning from Griffith of the 1910's (Lillian Gish, in the middle of a fifth decade of her eventually 75-year film career) to Corman of the 1960's (Susan Strasberg, star in The Trip and Psych-Out, makes her debut) with a touch of Welles of the 40's (Citizen Kane producer John Houseman and actor Paul Stewart). And there's more: Fay Wray (King Kong's girlfriend of the 30's), Oscar Levant (Gershwins piano virtuoso buddy of the 20's), Charles Boyer (anyone's favourite French debonair anytime, including Garbo's) Gloria Grahame (sultry 50s film noir star who died in Liverpool) Richard Widmark (complex pillar of male integrity to whom Mel Gibson should be indebted); and, of course, Bacall (who today enters her seventh decade as an actress!). Minnelli and Houseman have gathered them all at a mental institution in Cinemascope and Eastmancolour. M(g)m!
