Stockholm Film Festival

Johnny runs away from home to escape his father's nagging about military service and to try his luck so he can realize his dream of becoming a racing driver. He soon realizes that it isn't that simple to win honour and fame and he has to fight hard to even survive. The older and more experienced Eric takes care of Johnny and falls soon in love with him. Johnny is drawn into a gang of small wanglers and slides further and further down into their risky world. The fallen angel Veronica (Daryl Hannah) turns up at his side with a number of other more or less honest characters, among those the southern chick Wilma Price (Tiffani-AmberThiesen). Speedway Junky is produced by Gus Van Sant and resembles in many parts his Boy's Life 2. Worth noticing is that Patsy Kensit and Warren G turn up in cameo roles.
