The exorcist Hyunahm and father Park unite to try to solve a series of murders that they think are linked to a Satanist cult. An evil force that attempts to use the womb to give the birth to the seeds of evil torments Seung-Hsee, whose parents were members of a suicidal sect. With a mixture of modern technique (in all there are eight minutes of computer animated film, which is a lot even considering that it’s a Korean film) and ancient Asian philosophy, the Soul Guardians constitutes an exception among exorcist films. Exorcising the evil spirits is not only done with invocations but also with the help of an energy flow, that, if trained right, can give unexpected force. They are assisted by ancient martial arts, but also with an important female dagger, and a little boy with inner supernatural forces. A love story develops between Hyunahm and Seung-Hee and this gives yet another dimension to the film when the lovers try to ascertain how much they can do for each other. The Soul Guardians is based on Woohyuck Lee’s novel that has sold more than two million copies.
