The year 1957, the Russians bomb and occupy the United States of America. The last free outpost is a place called ''Lost Vegas'' and Elvis gets elected the ruler over the last rocking Americans.
But now, forty years later, after the death of the King, Lost Vegas needs a new ruler. A title that even Death has his eyes on.
Buddy (Jeffery Falcon) is a loner, who plays his guitar as skillfully as he swings his samurai sword (his only earthly possessions). He is the myth of Rock'n'Roll.
One day he saves a little boy (Justin McGuire) from a gang of baddies and the two become inseparable companions.
In the desolate landscape that was created by the war with the Russians, Buddy and the boy walk toward Lost Vegas, the Mecca of all guitar-players. Buddy will, being a strong contestant, try to occupy the empty throne of Rock'n'Roll.
During the trip they are persecuted
by Death and his hoodlums, that bear a resemblance to Guns'n'Roses. They do their best to make life as hard as possible for Buddy and the boy, who also have to fight primitive, growling head hunters,
a cannibalistic, very hungry family and many other unpleasant types that do their best, as well, to make life hard forthe duo.
Director Lance Mungia has loved film since he was a toddler, and Six String Samurai is a tribute to the art of film.
We find here ingredients from several different genres. But above all we see that the samurai-genre is dear to the director. The choreography in the fight-scenes is well crafted by Jeffery Falcon, who has lived in China for thirteen years. He has also studied, performed and taught the EastAsian art of war for more than twenty years.
Falcon's proficiency mixed with the image of the hero makes this a different and an esthetically appealing film. Mungia has said that he sees the hero Buddy, as a post-apocalyptic version of Buddy Holly, and Falcon fits perfectly in this Mad Max-goes-Samurai.
