Hugo and Goof pick up young female interail travelers when they arrive to Amsterdam. They have sex with them, steal their money and rip out a page from their passports as a souvenir.
One day they meet Lara, and Goof falls in love for real. Against the wishes of
Hugo she moves into their apartment.
The problems start when Goof becomes obsessed with the idea of bringing Lara
to Siberia, where her parents were born. Hugo absolutely does not want to be in
on this, and instead he proposes a bet.
Siberia takes place mostly in the older parts of Amsterdam. It is filmed in a stylistically, very professional way. One certainly gets the feeling of a warm, sweaty, hectic Capital. There are many quick cuts and the cinematography shifts between colour and grainy black and white. The music is written by Junkie XL, who lays down a background of pulsating techno throughout the movie.
As is Westdijks first film Zusje, this film is cowritten by Jos Driessen. All scenes that take place in Siberia were filmed in Riilros, Norway, earlier this year.
