A macho pig of a man with an extremely blue suit, lots of money and a supermodel girlfriend gets shot in a dark Tallinn street. What looks like a simple mafia murder turns out to be far more complicated and represents a reflection of changing the Estonian society.
The picture Illmar Taska paints of Estonia resembles a glossy magazine with super rich people, luxury cars and all the conspicuous symbols of wealth .. But the people living in the luxurious apartments are just as trapped as their caged canaries. The women stumble as they try to walk straight on the cobble stones of the old town in Tallinn, while the men with brand new cars and 19th century
values treat them like animals. Set Point features the Estonian supermodel Carmen Kass, last seen in Zoolander. In Set Point she malces striking poses with her mobile phone and drives through Tallinn by night in a stylish red Mini.
Finnish star Peter Franzen plays the corrupt police officer Harri Hunt. Even he is trapped behind bars, just like his wife played by Maria Avdjushko.
The film is beautifully shot by cinematographer Istvan Barbas, who worked on Roy Andersson's Songs from the Second Floor.
