Self Respect

Eight million pesetas in an envelope. And on the same day you have been thrown out into the street. What to do? A simple decision if it wasn't for the fact where the money came from. At the same time there is nothing better than sweet revenge. The question is, who gets it. This is where the Ten Commandments mixed with some self-respect comes in.

Such a dilemma is what the piano playing housewife Juana is faced with, when her husband, the bank executive Simón, disappears without a trace. With him goes a large chunk of the bank's money, which makes Juana smell a rat. That a secret mistress with a penchant for fishmongering and cheap perfume suddenly makes a claim on Simón, doesn't make things less complicated. This is simply a man who fools around with women as well as other people's money. Innocents such as his wife and clients are affected, among them a certain ranch owner who soon finds an ally in Mrs Hierro. The dreamy housewife turns into an avenger. Self-respect (amor propio) becomes her motivation.
