Meokgo and the Stickfighter

This magic realism story revolves around Kgotso, a wandering stickfighter, whose only possesion is a magic concertina. He is hired as a shepherd in a mountain village, and while he is tending the sheep, a mysterious woman approaches him.Teboho Mhlatsi’s short film is inspired by the Mozart opera The Magic Flute, but owes as much to the imagery of Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns. Meokgo and the Stickfighter is set in the magnificent and dramatic landscapes of the Kingdom of Lesotho in South Africa.MALIN EIJDE
