Chinese story of prostitution and desperation where a young girl turning
tricks checks in to a small town hotell to commit suicide. But before she
gets a chance to do what she came for, a young poet on the same floor
kills himself and the police arrive. They question her and one of the
policemen sensing her unhappiness takes her under his wing. The problem is he won't let go of her when she wants to leave.
Seafood is pared down and intimately shot, which gives you a feeling of being close to the characters. Seafood participated at this year's Venice Film Festival, and won the Special Jury Prize of the festival's Cinema of the Present section.
