Comment:
Don't be afraid. If you find the most beautiful river in south Louisiana, in Bayou land filled with Spanish moss, even though the experts say that there is no ”Lost River” on the map. If you have such a paranoid fear of sex that you have to invite your own father into the connubial bedroom on your wedding night so that then there were three. If you don't understand the smile of your friend when he dances and enjoys classical music. And don't be afraid if your six months marriage is so loveless that your husband visits prostitutes without you understanding why.
- Teach me to love, says loveless Talbot to the village whore Thais, who has just had sex with both her father, the pastor, and her husband. What do I do wrong? Should I blow on it? she yells at Thais' crooked
smile which has no simple answers to give.
- Don't smile at me like that, Bear growls at Howler who is trying to explain the meaning of classical music while Bear in vain tries to find the rhythm and the melody to dance to.
-I am scared! Emily lloyd plays the part of Splendid, a ''southern belle'' who sucks her thumb in fear of losing her virginity.
-It was this that killed mother. I killed mother! Mother died when she gave birth to me! Says Splendid to her wonderful fat· her Jumper and her desperate and horny husband Dolan. And Jumper places a hypnotized Splendid in the rocking chair, asks her to be the mother who tells her daughter, in the act of forgiveness and settlement which is our only way of living on:
-I wanted to live, believe me. But my heart didn't have the strength. Live for the both of us, Splendid. Live for the both of us.
Do as Jumper who sits by a river that doesn't exist speaks a nearly extinct Cajun-French, in this film that combats bitterness and dares to touch and strike the chords of our strongest feelings: Do not be afraid.
