Poor Anna Battista. The 23-year-old actress has had her share of success. She uses drugs, has sex and travels over the whole world. She takes part in tv interviews, prize awards and fashion shots, But she has a price to pay: ''I'm the loneliest girl in the world,'' she declares. If she only could be respected as an artist... If she only could find real love ... In Scarlet Diva most things are filthy, dirty, broken and depraved. Argento directs and plays herself the main role. It's not for no reason that you feel some things in the film are selfexperienced. The fragmental and semi-documentary metaphorical language encompasses nightmares, memories of childhood and spegulative symbolism.
