Saint Jack is an absorbing character study of an amiable, ambitious pimp who thrives in Singapore during the early 1970's. Produced by me, directed by Peter Bogdanovich, Saint Jack was the Grand Prize winner at the Venice Film Festival in 1979.

Comment:
Shooting began on location with Ben Gazzara and Denholm Elliot in the leads, but as Singapore officials would have disallowed the possibility that such activities as depicted in the screenplay could have taken places in their homeland, a phon scenario was submitted in order to obtain shooting permits. Filming dragged on for many weeks and, in a rare move, Corman himself flew over to location for two days to straighten out some technical hassles.
