Ring 0 tells what happened before the first Ring film, where a mysterious videotape killed all who watched it, and the second film where Sadako a vindictive female spirit, causes even more distress (both where screened, at the Stockholm International Film Festival in 1999). Sadako is a monster with the face of an angel, but also a misunderstood victim of an evil experiment. The now completed Ring trilogy, based on Koji Suzuki's stories, has without doubt aided the Japanese horror film wave that has hit Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong during the last years. The Rings films differ from the others mainly by being a tragedy. The tragic in the story is the distressed Sadako, which becomes especially evident in Yukie Nakamas eyes where Sadako's desperate alld unsuccessful struggle against her dark sides becomes inevitable.
