Requiem For a Dream

Harry and Saras unconcerned life as New York drug addicts tumbles when they run low on money and the drug supply to the city is choked. At the same time Harry's mother dreams of taking part in a quiz show on television and for this reason goes on an amphetamine diet. Based on Rubert Selbys cult novel, Aronofsky once more takes up the subject of people in a borderline situation, The main characters slow voyage into increasing drug addiction is told through the consistent use of techniques such, as fast montage, stop motion animations and unusual camera angles. A film language that isn't there just for its own sake but contributes in sending the spectator into the main characters personal hell.
