Dag Yngvesson reflects on the lucrative porn industry in the USA. Brandishing a camera and a microphone he interviews those dressed as well as undressed in the business. After a time in San Fernando Valley he is offered a job as the director of a porn film with non other than Jeanna Fine. The USA makes an average of 15 porn films each day. How are they done? Who is involved? Yngvesson wanted to take a critical look at the porn industry in The Valley. He simply phoned William Margold, the guy with total control and also the man that in the sixties introduced pornography to the then thirteen-year old Dag through TV- portraying Doctor Yes, a film character who gladly lost his pants in close combat with female Martian who wanted to sexually take over the planet. Initially helped by Margold, Dag suceeds getting in touch with a number of different people that support themselves with the most naked industry of them all. After interviewing several producer, agent, directors and porno actors, he finds himself at home and is suprised that he is more understanding than critical. With humour and curiosity, Dag takes us on a journey through porno - and he is not afraid to take a personal and ironic approach. However, Rated X does not lack seriousness - with its anthropological scientifically speculations it has depth. Why are most in the business white? How come that so many actors have been molested in their childhood? What do female porno directors think? Ask Dag, he knows. He has asked.
