Pride and Prejudice

Pride and Prejudice is a humorous love-story about the Bennet sisters who live with their parents in the countryside in Georgian England. Since Mr Bennet has no male heir to inherit his house the family depends on the girls to marry rich. The arrival of the wealthy Mr Bingley and his even wealthier friend, Mr Darcy, is therefore a welcome happening. Mr Bingley has let an estate in the neighbourhood where he plans to spend the summer with his sister and his friend. Mr Darcy is handsome but seems to think himself above others. One of the sisters Elizabeth falls for him and soon love is in the air, but love is never easy: Elizabeth might have jumped to a hasty conclusion when she falls for Mr Darcy. The sisters start to fight and many a trial lie between them and their happiness. But three marriages later the future seems much brigheter for the familys future luck.Pride and Prejudice is not just another Austen movie. Wright’s hands the familiar story into a astoundingly refreshing portrait of the upper class in the early late 18th century in England. Pride & Prejudice is Joe Wright’s first feature film.
