Pedro and Leo have been hanging out in the ''barrio'' as long as they can remember, a place where opportunities are rare, and those that present themselves without exception involve criminal acts. Both now 27, they work for local mobster ''The Boss'', running errands and placing bets for the powerful man. When the news reaches Leo that Gloria - Pedro's sister, and the love of Leo's life - is about to return to town, he starts questioning his life and sees her reappearance as a sign. Maybe she could be the ticket out of the crime-ridden life he has led? Gloria and Leo soon reunite, rebuilding their relationship from childhood memories and their will to create something new. But life in the ''barrio'' isn't that simple. Pedro has got himself into trouble, risking mobster money on a huge bet. ''The Boss'' isn't exactly pleased with this and forces Gloria to an impossible decision: she has to choose between her brother and her boyfriend.
