The cliche of ''They-are-coming-to-get-you-Barbara'' is still valid! Barbara and her brothers one day visit their father's grave. Arriving at the graveyard they are attacked by a lunatic, apparently the verger. Only Barbara escapes the attack and takes refuge on a farm. She meets Ben, a confused passer-by, who has come in contact with sluggishly moving lunatics. Soon they discover five more people who have been hiding in the basement of the house, among them a I ittle girl with an infected bite and seriously ill. More and more zombies are gathering outside the deserted house and while darkness is falling we follow the group's desperate attempts to escape. Thirty years have now passed since George Romero shocked the world in 1968 with his film debut Night of the Living Dead. The film was a milestone in the genre of modern horror film. Romero later added to his success by making a ''zombie triology'' and directed Dawn of the Dead in 1978 and Day of the Dead in 1978. Tom Savini, the guru of special effects, directed a re-make in 1990 after John Russo's original version from 1968 but now in colour. And now, thirty years after the opening night, George Romero and Night of fhe Living Dead is once more on the cinema screen in a new totally changed form: the film is digitally re-mastered, re-cut and updated with a new soundtrack. Besides that, the film has also got 15 added minutes of newfilmed material in shape of a prologue and epilogue directed by John Russo. These new 15 minutes explain how it all began and how it ends!
