Mr. and Mrs. Peach watch with anxiety their neighbours' migration to Australia. Who is going to move into the old house? It's the Chapman couple, who are a great disappointment and conflict is imminent. The Chapmans are loud-mouthed, impolite and aggressive - in other words totally wrong for Mr. and Mrs. Peach's neighbourhood. The newcomers annoy especially the faultless Mr. Peach and soon they are to blame for everything that happens. Besides the increasingly precarious neighbour situation, Mr. Peach has problems with his work. He's bad at selling and debts as well as bills pile up on his desk. He dwells in his own world where he lets the new neighbours become an enemy that need to be fought against. The Chapmans become the scapegoat for all his problems and soon both couples are involved in a fight, if not to the death, at least not far from that. Debbie lsitt's debut shows in an uncommon way the cracks in the suburbs and their citizens' shortcomings. Nasty Neighbours is a dark comedy with melancholic undertones of present day England and was originally a play that Isitt wrote in 1995. As play it was so popular that it ended up in the Guinness Book of Records as the performance that had its first opening in most theatres at the same time.
