A modern action thriller, starring Gene Hackman and Anne Archer. Los Angeles D.P. Robert Caufield goes to a cottage in Canada to collect a woman, Carol Hunnicut, who has been the chance witness of a maffia killing. What he does not notice, until it is too late, is that the mob have been trailing him all the way. The couple have to flee on a train bound for Vancouver. On board, though, are a couple of professional killers. They know what Caufield looks like, but they have never seen Hunnicut at close quarters. This fact is the fugitives' one chance of survival.
Comment:
I think that the train is a very romantic, very mysterious, very exotic thing. It's filled with power, surprise and danger and yet it has a romance and mystery about it. And I was compelled by the claustrophobic environment you create when you take people and compress them into very tight spaces - when there is a prey, a predator, and no place to go. That, for me, is a tense situation.
