Sunil and Malati live an ordinary middle class life in Bombay. It seems like they have it all: a pleasant apartment, double income, and a kid. They love each other, but after ten years of marriage there is a lack of passion and lust between them. Sunil is on the edge of boredom. But suddenly everything changes as Sunil is introduced to the world of “swinging”. He instantly starts to fantasize about switching partner for a night, and convinces his wife to try it. But he could never predict the outcome. Mixed Doubles questions India´s new middle class dream and America as a role model society. The filmmaker Rajat Kapoor has chosen to examine people’s dreams and the ordinary in life. He describes Mixed Doubles as ”a moral tale” and tries to teach the audience a lesson about appreciating what you have got.PETRA KJELLSTRÖM
