Comfort women, Philippine women captured and raped by Japanese soldiers during World War II, tell their brutal tales to the world. In front of the TV sits Walter Dempsey Jr, also known as Mrs Markova, also known as comfort gay, ready to tell his story. Carrying scars from memories of a brutal adolescence, rape and abuse, he now lives with his kindred gay siblings, still facing identity and gender issues.
Dolphy is one of the most loved actors in his home country and especially praised for his comic roles as a homosexual. With Markova: Comfort Gay he takes on another path, showing the sadness and darkness in the hidden and lonely life of a gay transvestite. Entertainment and laughs intertwined with drama and social critique.
