Zelda lives with Max and their 2-year-old daughter in an apartment. The apartment also harbours a couple of their friends, but while Zelda takes care of her child, her flatmates lead a wild life, with non-stop parties. No longer able to keep up with the nightlife, Zelda and her friends, also mothers, spend the afternoon to sip margaritas in a Mexican bar. As their children cry and cling to their arms, the women keep trying to hang on to a feeling of freedom.
The delusion of a carefree youth is smashed as Chaiken revolves around the transformation of motherhood. Margarita Happy Hour was highly appreciated and praised at both Sundance and Toronto film festivals.
