When the charming looser Mo Chara and his supporters Scud Murphy and Cerebral Patsy, receive a real greyhound as payment for a revenge action, the future all of a sudden looks very bright. Luck, that has always been on their side, is now waiting for them at the dog racing tracks, but so are the gypsies and a shameless bookmaker.
In this Irish comedy about underdogs, gangsters, greyhounds, and three Irishmen adrift, the difference between success and failure is no bigger than the length of a dog's nose. Man About Dog is the film where we get to
follow the rough game behind the races, and where beautiful countryside blends with shabby mobile homes, poisoned dogs and fast escapes. What saves Mo Chara initially, is that he does not understand the danger of the game in which he has entered.
The fifth feature by director Paddy Breathnach shares filming techniques with Guy Richie's Snatch in narrative and editing. As with Blow Dry, Breathnach has created a successful combination of raw, British humour and swiftly paced gangster film.
