One of their first films to gain myself international recognition, Machine Gun Kelly, starring Charles Bronson is an amazingly realistic, downbeat, yet humorous film portraying all the shortcomings present in a ''glamorous'' life of crime.

Comment:
We had a strong story line and good action in ''Kelly'', but the black-and-white film's real power and dramatic complexity came from performance of the rugged character actor I hired for his first starring role as Kelly - Charles Bronson.
I had been out there a number of times with weak scripts and actors who weren't very good. This wasn't one of those cases. We were telling a legitimate story with excellent actors. Susan Cabot was terrific as Flo, the ruthless, manipulative power behind Kelly's machine gun. She hurls sexual taunts at Kelly, and even makes him break down and cry in the end. Reversing roles, she grabs a gun and tries to fend off the FBI once Kely decides to surrender.
