Five childhood friends meet to celebrate the fact that one of them, Jamie, is getting married. They meet at Georgina's for a combined hen- and slumber-party. When they were little girls they frequently stayed at each other's houses, stayed up all night and talked about things that you only ever mention to your best friends. Jamie is the centre of attraction. She is a B-movie actress and is getting married for the third time. The hostess Georgina is bisexual and has a shaky lesbian relationship. Jill is a mother and a bored suburbian house-wife. She has a sex- fixation and a unique ability to make people reveal their innermost secrets which she then swiftly passes on at the first opportunity. Rachel is Jill's sister and her complete opposite. She is single with no children, and jealous of her sister and her family. Marcy is the sensible girl who became an accountant. Her secure and slightly boring life is falling apart since she began having an affair with an extremely jealous man. Finally there is Chris, the depressed lesbian who lives with Georgina. Jamie is the last to arrive at the party. She is upset and declares that her wedding is off. She is shocked by what Jerome, her future husband, has told her. His friends have hired a stripper for his stag-night, which takes place in a pool hall at the same time as the hen-night. Jamie will not accept this. She knows how these parties sometimes degenerate, since she has worked as a strip-o-gram herself. She doesn't want her boyfriend to fantasize about other women. ''Ain't I enough?'', Jamie asks her friends and sets the ball rolling for the night's discussions. Live Nude Girls is a chamber play set in a house in California. Through the women's stories we get to look back at their sexual experiences and fantasies. Short stories sometime reminiscent of soft porn on late-night cable TV. How-ever, behind the nocturnal conversations about sex the women's bonds with each other grow stronger. In a well-acted and humourous way you get to see how they play off each other with little diabolical tricks, but also how they help and support each other throughout their various love affairs. AS
