13-year-old Simeon, a silent loner spending most of his time in the
woods, gets lured out of his safe environment by his own attraction
to the 19-year-old girl Mariana. He just stop help himself from
stalking the hottest girl in town until, one day, he gets caught
by Mariana’s boyfriend. Little Man is an archaic, lyrical and very
visual coming-of-age story taking place in the extraordinary
setting of the South African Forest. The narrative is driven by
stunning cinematography that captures the monumental settings
and the harsh teenage reality, as well as details of intimacy. The
calm and discrecy of the storytelling is strongly contrasted by
Simeon’s abrupt sexual initiation that follows the encounter with
Mariana’s boyfriend.
