Sophomore effort from French director Bertrand Bonello strikes a curious but consistently moving note as a non-explicit film dealing with the vagaries of the pornography industry. Truffaut stock company actor Jean-Pierre Léaud portrays ageing pornographer Jacques, forced by financial straits to return to his former profession of directing pornographic movies. This brings further alienation from his adolescent son Joseph, who several years earlier chose to leave home after finding out the true nature of his father's profession.
Le pornographe is a quiet but deeply engaging story of a father and a son getting to grips with their lives.
