The film is as much a road movie as a switchback between hope and humiliation, dream and nightmare. The story is woven around David and Marie, two lost adolescents running away from a hopeless existence of unemployment and prostitution. The journey goes through downtrodden cities with rain wet reflections of street and neon lights, continues out into the barren, environments of a misty countryside and ends with a brilliant sunrise over the sea. The life they have left behind catches up at every stop they make. The dust of the road mingles with laughter, weeping, and a desperate longing for true love instead of kisses for sale. In spite of all that, David ane Marie learn something new. Happiness is not a place but a state of mind. A state of mind they find in each other.
