Cold Water

The year is 1972, somewhere near Paris. Gilles and Christine are teenagers who have yet to find their place in life. Gilles has a diciplinary problem in school and they threaten to expel him. He lives with his over-protective father who wants to send him to boarding school. Christine is bored and frustrated. Her struggle in life concerns the mother and her new husband, who have both become Scientologists, and the father, who wants to put her in an institution because of her unstable mental health.

When Christine is arrested for shop-lifting the whole latent procedure shifts into gear. After a day in an institution Christine changes her behaviour. Her increasingly depressive nature takes over. She is more in need of Gilles' love than ever before. Gilles fights against taking the step into the adult world. He steals LPs and dabbles in petty crime. He is facing a difficult choice when Christine asks him to leave the, despite everything, secure environment and come with her.
