Koski Meat Product is the name of the sausage producing factory around which a serious comedy is centered. The picturesque town of Porvoo and the hard-core factory are the base for sexual remedies and hysterical encounters as summer turns to fall. Women receive flowers and men start to take action. The action in Flowers and Bindings is furious and splattering. Relations between the members of the community result in bondage and a ruthless power struggle. The website for the film, www.kukkiajasidontaa.fi, accredits not only producer Aleksi Bardy and director Jaakko Kuusi as screenwriters, but in fact the entire cast, including Outi Mäenpää, Simo Routarinne, Sari Havas and Kari-Pekka Toivonen - all members of improvisation theatre group ''Stella Polaris''. Flowers and Bindings originates in ideas that sprouted in the group when making the TV series Vapaa Pudotus in 2002. Now the film reveals the result of dependence in a small community and its large-scale effects. SEBASTIAN SLOTTE
